I'll add to this as I go but here are a few reasons why I'm happy this is my new home...
1-only in VA will you see a man ride his horse up to a strip mall to a local pizza chain (CiCis), tie his horse to a tree, and go in and eat pizza. after the horse makes a mess of the mulch you actually hear the manager say "sir, i'm sorry but i'm going to have to ask you to move your horse". i have photographic evidence...
2-you see an '88 crown vic rolling down the street with a deer skull roped up to the hood and a man with a sick mullet and original rolling stones tshirt behind the wheel
3-typical breakfast conversation at the local diner revolves around how much hay you have for your farm
4-there is a car show every saturday night at the local Hardees, and you've actually contemplated going

I'm back... sorta...
Update, update, update:
Ok, here's my quick update so I can hurry up and get posting on some normal blogs. I know not too many people are super concerned about the size of my shoe or how many times a day I go pee so I'll keep it brief :)
I'll try to format this like most conversations I have with people I haven't talked to in a while:
So Alyssa, where are you now?
I'm living in Virginia right outside of Richmond with Theresa and our daughter (she's sort of black, hairy, and canine in appearance) Bailey. We actually bought our first house together and spend a lot of time making it ours.
Oh, so are you out of the Army or are you stationed there again?
Definitely OUT of the Army. I now work for ARAMARK Uniform Services as a District Manager in Richmond for one of our districts. We provide uniforms and other office products to companies of all sizes. Its a great job, I got a company car, a gas card (cha-ching), and a nice little bonus program.
So you're still with Theresa? That's got to be some kind of record for you... Are you guys getting married or what?
Yes, Yes, and Yes! Sometime in May of 2008. I am sure we'll be setting a date at some point since its less than a year away, as soon as we do we'll get out invitations and the planning will commence.
